If you're on the fence about it, take off the throttle body and wipe the inside of the manifold with a shop towel. If it's covered in oil when you take it out then it's ingesting oil. Though with the way the trucks pull vacuum from the valve cover, you'll always get a lot of oil through the PCV.

 

Hence the word, usually.

 

Mine does whatever you are describing...it makes my blower sound louder...if i touch the can, it quiets down...im guessing its due to my home made design and how thin the material is...i used a think aluminum container that is causing NVH as it lets air thru it

 

Couple can questions for those with the Mike Norris can. Does it have some kind of filter medium to allow it to help oil condense in the can? If not has anyone attempted to find their own material (stainless steel scoring pad or something similar)?

 

To answer the question, Yes it does. Seems to do exactly what it is designed to do. Could it be better? Yes but not for the amount you pay for it. For a NA engine it seems to be very effective. I could not say for FI though.

Add my 2 cents to this thread. Read it a while back and purchased a Mike Morris catch can for my '08 5.3 and just it put on tonight. I bought the Gen 2 can with the AN fittings. Only complaint I had was it could have came with more hose. Came with one length with the fittings crimped onto each end. Cut it in the middle and the plastic vent hose fit into the hose supplied with the can and used small clamps to tighten it down.



Elbow on the original hose I cut. Thought I need every bit of hose to make it reach.

I'm bumping this thread again in search for an answer. I posted pictures above of my Mike Morris catch can back in October, unsure how many miles I had ran with it, 2,000 or better, but anyways I drained it for the very first time yesterday morning and this is what it collected....
What I'm wanting to know is, why is it such a puke yellow color?

 

Probably condensation mixed with oil .

 

+1. You could pull the dipstick and look under the oil cap for peace of mind that the moisture is mixing with the oil outside the engine, but I'm sure it is. How have the temps been lately in SD, cold?
