You can hear the roof buckling on SuperDuty trucks that have spent a lot of time offroad (personal experience); I've never heard that sound in a Chevy or Dodge (I have subjected all model years of trucks from 04+ to the rigorous demands of my occupation and environment)

Figured I'd resurrect this thread. I'm surprised there isnt more talk about these ecoboost trucks. I recently purchased one and I am liking it more and more. Coming from a NNBS vmax (tune, intake, exhaust), I have to say this little stock V6 would run by that truck. Gas mileage is a good 2-3 mpg better also.

Tuned only trucks are running mid 13s in a crew cab with 20s. Pretty damn impressive considering most 6 liter chevy take a bit more to run that.

Anybody have any runnings with these trucks lately? The ford guys tend to think they are "unstoppable"

I must say though. This truck sounds like absolute coming from a cutoff gt500 and 6.0.

I can really respect the powertrain, I'm just not enamored with the boxy look of the Ford truck lineup. I've run against a few (stock and modified) at the track and I'm impressed with the performance though I haven't "lost" to one yet.

They run good times stock and with a few mods they can run high 12s but thats as fast as youll see them go any time soon. Theyre fuel limited with the DI system. With a GM the sky is the limit obviously.

Personally if I was buying a new truck right now it would be an ecoboost equipped truck but Id have to regear it to runt he larger tires I want and not get horrible gas mileage. Theyre VERY sensitive to extra load if youre trying to get better MPG. they do have tons of low end tq and pull well from what Ive read. Twin 48mm turbos seem to spool surprisingly well on that little 3.5.

Yeah, the mileage is good under normal conditions (17 to 20 mpg), but like ya'll said, you put a load and cold weather effect mpg a lot. The direct injection and the lack of turbo upgrades leaves them stuck in the 12 sec range. Although, sure doesn't take a lot money to get there. These little 48mm's sure do spool fast. I think the 2013s upgraded to twin 51mm.
