Why add a cooler if they are under warrenty, just a reason to deny a claim if there was a failure.m sure these trannys are fine up to 235ish in temps for a short while.
I have to believe these trucks are engineered to run bone stock at max loads flat footed for long steep grades.

If someone finds an article online about recommended temperatures it should be taken with a grain of salt. Seems weird to trust any small shop's opinion when GM will warranty it for 100K miles as is.... They don't do everything right, but they aren't "backyard engineering" either. Dex6 also will last longer at high temps if that's your factory fill.
Aftermarket parts would change this though.

I don't "make" it run at 165-175, that's just what mine has been at in these 100* days under normal semi-spirited driving. And as far as all the parameters I have changed that list is too long to list lol, Have you seen the trans tables for the A6? I bet I have spent 3-4hrs just on the tranny alone

Would you consider sharing your tune? I have HPTuners and have licensed my truck. I've yet to change anything. The truck has less than 1000 miles on it so, I'm in no hurry. I've spent a few hours reading about A6 tuning but I'm still leery. It's a totally different beast from tuning a 4L60.
I have a 5.3 so you engine tune wouldn't help me but being able to do some comparisons with your trans tables would be a huge help.
I've been debating about tuning myself or paying Nelson for a base tune and tweaking it from there.

I tow many 1000 mile trips ....keep the engine rpm up and dont make the trans shift alot it will run cool even withthe stock cooler

yeah guys i occasionally creep up on 200 temps without any towing. ive towed 5500 lbs race car and trailer and been 207 or so. i plane to add and aftermarket cooler and run Amsoil in the transmission. im also going to change to the larger port transmission filter.
truck is 2011 6.2 EC 4x4
