Default 6.2 Engine Noise

well my 2013 6.2 has just rolled over 1,000 miles. I love the truck for the most part although I did put 100 of those miles on it going back to the dealer to confirm that it wasn't just my truck that came with pre-wrinkled bedsides over the wheel. Anyway, I was sitting in park the other day with the window down and noticed a slight chattering noise. I got under the truck and it sounds like timing chain or valvetrain noise. Could be injectors I suppose. Is this common to the 6.2? I will make an appointment with the dealer if it's cause for some concern. with 1k miles on it i'd hate for someone to have to tear into the engine, I would almost rather send it back in a condition that would require a new engine.

You know you need buy a "Vor-Tick" right?

Haha, I've got an 08 Sierra Denali with 80,000km's on it... sounds like a diesel when it cold-starts.

It does go away when it's up to operating temp though. Vortec's are known to be noisy, but they'll go forever, apparently it's pretty common for the 6.2's especially.

Dealer told me not to worry about it... it's "normal"

But I'd get it looked at under warranty for peice of mind.

mine ticks hot or cold. I work with a bunch of ford guys so I never hear the end of it. Pretty sad that my father has an old 39 chevy truck with an engine that makes less noise...lol . I will get it to the dealer so they can reassure me it's normal haha

Got my 13 6.2 sierra last November, going on 4300miles and quiet as a mouse even starting up on a 0degree winter night.

Last night when I started it the noise was there, got to work and the noise was still there. Doesn't seem to matter if it's hot or cold.

Check your oil level.
When I was apprenticing at a dealership I don't know how many times I saw guys not check fluid levels during the delivery inspection
