Default Need Good Info on the 6.2/ 6speed

I'm in love with the NNBS CCs. Really would like to get a Denali.
But I need to know how the drivetrain will perform, last .

I will want to add a front mount at roughly 5-7 psi for towing /daily driving, with a max of 10 for when I feel the need. And probably a small cam at some point.

How will the drivetrain take this ? I'm not going to make a drag truck out of it , just a fun everyday family hauler that can still tow good .

I'm spoiled by how well the stock LS engines last and perform with boost and with proper tuning last.

Tell me why some of these have failed here , too much boost ? Bad tuning ?

Also is this 6.2 the same as in the camaro I assume ?

Thanks for the help !

Tim, the 6.2 is not same as the LS3 but close. You can do what you are talking about to the 6.2 no problem. Good tune is the key........

Theres a few versions of the 6.2. The early Denali/escy ones were VVT only no afm and the mid years are a mish mash and now they are all both iirc. Spend some time reading the threads created by the early 6.2 owners and you'll find all your after.

Regardless a pair of twin 60'ish's or a single 72 will be sweet as cherry pie and do what you want on the stock cam if you keep the revs down and run a decent pair of springs.

The tune is everything

I bet the only thing different in a truck 6.2l and a camaro or corvette 6.2l is the cam intake and throttle body. as for the drive train no worries the 4wd can handle 600hp with out a problem as long as you dont abuse it. 10psi is fine on a stock 6.2l 6speed.

A single 72 would be tiny for a 6.2 IMO

Ill meet you halfway

Remember the Denalis only come with 3.42s, if you get one of the 09+ NHT trucks you can get them with 3.73s which will help a TON with towing. 5th gear all day long with 3.73s ought to do just fine towing most anything.

Most of the guys who have popped their 6.2s were due to tuning problems. There are way too many people putting down 600+ rwhp for a long time for it to be anything but a tuning issue.
