Default where to get rubber sunroof seal/wstrip for denali

My sunroof rubber weatherstrip seal is leaking on my 02 yukon denali. My dealer says it is only available when purchasing the entire motor/track/glass/frame assembly and not sold seperately. Any advice?

The part I need is the piece that is exposed to the outside of the truck...it apparently somehow attatches directly to the glass. I am not sure how...I have not removed mine yet, and dont want to until I get a replacement as I dont want to make the leak worse.

I think what number 9 is there is the inner trim piece, that goes on the edge of the headliner for appearance.

it does. most sunroofs are made this way. it will only come with the glass from the dealer. you may also try a glass shop. they can usually get the same glass cheaper.

oh i see what you mean about it being made onto the glass. well the glass is $273.69 from gmpartsdirect but they like to rape you on the shipping so with glass they will probably want $200 for shipping.

I cannot fathom that a piece known to deteriorate prior to the life of the vehicle is made as non-replaceable. IF this is truly the case then there is no wonder GM is going under. They might make great v8 engines and trucks but some of their engineering (or lack thereof) is truly disturbing. This ranks right up there with them refusing to put a fuel pump access panel instead of wanting you to drop the tank every time the pump goes out...which is about every 2-3 years.

I checked today and the strip pulls right off the glass by hand. There is no reason it should not be available by itself. The glass is somehow glued/attatched to the metal frame underneath. There is a gap between the edge of the glass and the edge of the metal frame that forms a channel, and the strip slides right into that channel.

Nobody knows of a non-dealer or aftermarket source for this?

Quick question, how bad and from what area exactly is it leaking? Some water will work it's way past where the seal meets the roof, this is normal. there are 4 drains attached to the sunroof track assy that route that water out and down to the ground. If the drains are clogged, water will back up and work it's way over the sunroof track assy and into the cab...

I was not aware that water was supposed to get past it. I will check the drains more closely, although there is no obvious obstruction to them.

The seal actually looks fine all except in one spot. A few months back a car pulled out in front of me and I hit it fairly hard. I had the sunroof open at the time, and broken glass from the side of the other car flew into my truck via the sunroof and open windows. After it was fixed I tried to vacuum all the pieces of glass out of my sunroof track, but some of it still keeps working its way out. Sometimes I will hear some crunch when I open or shut it. It looks like one of the pieces ripped a small slit in the back of the seal.

Thanks for the reply.
