where are all the 10sec trucks?

The nutty thing is. 385tq doesn't sound like much to us nowadays but back then most 350ci trucks were rated at like 290TQ or so. The SS made 385TQ but at 1800rpm. Compared to our trucks that is WaAAY low.

Stock 454SS' were dogs, in 1990 they came w/ 230HP/385ft/lbs and 91-93 they came w/ 255hp/405ft/lbs due to a better intake and dual exhaust.
As for mine, it isn't quite stock. I have a 502", hyd. roller, aluminum heads, and FAST EFI.

the problem with the 454 SS wasn't that they had too much torque by any means. they just plain didn't rev. no rpm, no power. the only time this isn't true is with boost or nitrous.
i agree with you parish though, what happened to c3c5? it's like he disapeared....

You all need to find out what Silent1 is up to. I know it was running strong until he broke a lifter on the new 427. he should have it done for the Thunder Shoot out. As for me, mine wont be ready in time I dont think.

My truck has a 10 in it right now. All I would have to do is slap on a set of 28" tires and a larger pill and find a well prepared track. Why am I not doing this you ask? I have some health problems right now and can't afford to chance breaking something. You don't know how hard it is to resist going to the track when the weather is this great!

I shouldn't be beating on it on the street, but sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
