What is required to swap Gen IV engine into Gen III truck?
Just wondering what all is required to put a gen IV motor into a gen III truck. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I won't have all the answers but a few.
To stick a 07+ gen 4 motor in your need to use a 24x to 58x converter box or swap the reluctor wheel on the crank. Something to make the knock sensors work because they are on the side of the block. AFM/DOD delete kit, new cam, timnig chain, cam gear, valley cover, front cover if removing VVT. A custom tune for sure.

that early of a gen iv engine could have the knock sensor provisions in both the valley and the side of the block... Some sort of transition thing.... That being said you may want to check the block and the crank to see if it is a 58x or a 24x, some of the transition engines had the older style 24x reluctor in them, iirc!!

The motors are all basically the same for 99-07(classic), none of them will have AFM/DoD or VVT. Truck motors that is, some SUV's got AFM/DoD but they are considered gen 4 motors in those years.

LY6 question
Ive been searching for ways to do this and came across this post and looking for help I have an 02 Silverado with the 4.8 and I also have a LY6 from an 09 Sierra. I have everything for the LY6 from my donor truck including full harnesses, pedal, and even to the cluster. What can I do to pull this swap off? Thanks in advance
