If there is limited supply and a huge demand prices will go up. Perhaps you should learn more about things bofore you start the name calling.

screw the tree huggers and build a couple of refinerys with all those billions and billions of profit the exxons and texacos are making right now....they could even take about 30% of that profit right now and lower the cost of gasoline...shure would make people think a little better bout these guys in the time of need here in the good ole usa

In 2000 and 2004 half the country voted for liberals. I wonder what they are all thinking their ideals now. Just as an added note. New Orleans has a port that receives about 2/3`s of all goods shipped into this country that you and I buy every day. Guess, what? That port has been shut down and will be for months, not to mention all the oil rigs and refinaries that are off line now. This is going to be a very tough winter for us all. God help us!!!

and all this comes along when auto makers are starting to make muscle cars again and offer v8's in everything something similar to this happened back in the 70's and automakers quite making muscle cars now 30 years latter they were starting to make them again and bam this BS

It seems that there are a few "easy" solutions available. However, these thigns are being held down. First the hybrid technology is a help. Any car with a mild hybrid system reaps a benefit. Figure if every vehicle had the ability to shut off when coasting or idling like the Silverado hybrid. That alone would be huge. Another thing, the turbo diesel cars in Europe get 40+ mpg and drive like a normal car. Little bit of noise at idle but thats it. I drove a few this summer in Germany actually. With biodiesel mixes we could bring back some of the farming industry too.
Also, the extremes would be to combine these available technologies.....hybrid turbodiesel car that plugs in at night to charge the batteries. It can get itself to the highway with no/little fuel; pull 50 mpg on the highway; and if the batts die itll still get 30 mpg in town. And we can use biodiesel mixes and keep our own damn money.
