Default 2/4 drop "have to shim"?

hey guys,
How many of you with a 2/4 drop kit didn't have to shim the axle? I'm gonna put on my hangers this weekend, just hoping i don't have to shim the axle. If i do, what size are you guys using?

Also, what is the best way to get the old hangers off? drill, grind/cut, or air hammer/chisel?
Anyone get away without dropping the tank?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks.
Taylor

I don't currently have shims on my 2/4. I did however have to get the carrier bearing relocation bracket to get everything back in line.

as for the hangers grind an X, chisel off the head and punch them out. I chose to pull the bed instead of dropping the tank, made working under there much easier imo.

Sweet I'll try that.
Where or what brand carrier bracket did you get?

Cool.
What exactly is the bracket doing? Moving it forward?

Move it down to correct the angle.

I did a 2/4 drop on my old 06 sierra long bed with a 1 piece driveshaft, it's pretty much a must to adjust pinion angle on that big of a drop. Get a angle finder and measure everything when you are done and that will tell you how many degrees you need to shim. I needed like 5ish but threw a 6 degree shim in there and it was fine.

Also I didnt remove the bed or the tank, I just unbolt the tank and shifted it over slightly, enough for me to wedge my hand and a wrench in there to hold the bolts.

ALWAYS measure driveline angles prior to any modification so you have a baseline in case of vibrations after the change

The truck came with 2" shackles. So I don't know the baseline. I'm guessing it's different for every truck too. Who sells the shims?
