Question Vortec 5.3 reliability

My dad has 05 sierra crewcab with the vortec 5.3, I drive the truck alot and like floor the gas alot it alot, my question is will the engine get damaged from the constant reving, it only has 2000 miles on and every time i rev it it starts to smell like some sort of burning, I dont want to damage my dads truck but cant resist flooring it and burning out in it

IMO dont do it. Anything reliable can break. If you arent paying for it, dont play in it.

I know from taking test drives on new vehicles you get that smell. I would say it is the smell of heated metal. Thats just a guess.

The new engine smell is usually paint getting burnt off of hot parts and the cats getting "broken in". A true burning smell is probably not a good thing.....

In the 1/4 run maybe a 16.5..."Don't blow up or wreck your dad's new truck" If you do you will regret it in the future.

Damn! Raggin on dads new truck huh? lol. I probably wouldnt rag it out too bad. Of course the occasional romp is ok but dont let every red light be a quarter mile for you. Nothing lasts a long time when its constantly beat on. I for one take it really easy on my stuff cause i pay for it and i dont want to break it. I just like keeping my things in good shape. Im a fanatic about my vehicles. Of course i let the little guy in the red suit on my left shoulder over power here and there so i still get to have a little fun.

I dont think you have anything to worry about on a truck with 2,000 miles on it. Just take it easy on it! I used to think it was fun to rag on my parents vehicles until i got a little older and then felt like an ******* for it because they were nice enough to let me drive their vehicle and i treated it like ****. Anyways, not trying to preach by any means, just want you to be responsible and careful not to mess up something thats not yours.

I agree with takin it easy. I know I'd be pissed if someone was driving my truck like they stole it, especially if they wrecked it
