Default Two guys garage.

Did anybody else watch Two Guys Garage today on Speed. They had a 2500 HD with the 6.0 and installed just a Volant Cold air intake and Hypertech and gained a total of 40hp and rear wheel torque. Myself, I think those numbers might be a bit inflated, but if they're not, I'll be ordering myself those things sometime this year.

I just watched it, I have a volant on my 5.3, it's possible they gained that much out of those two mods

That could be true, GM leaves lots on the table with the tuning.

You beat me to it I just watched it(I recorded it with dvr) and was a little concerend with the numbers as well. They SAID they got 23rwhp from the rugular Volant CAI, 28rwhp/30rwtq from the Hypertech HPP3. I personally done believe thos numbers but most of the guys on here dont start out with 6.0l's they start out with 4.8's and 5.3's. Most of the guys with 6.0l's on here did a swap and already had a CAI and did a custom tune so who knows. Has anyone that bought a 6.0'l from the dealership and put a Volant and Hypertech dynoed these items. I think they are a little off! They do use a Mustang Dyno though! Oh yeah that was on a 87 octane tune!

I saw it,too. I'm thinking of replacing my metal tube with a non-metal one to lessen the effect of hot air loss.

That is 51 RWHP not 40 RWHP . So when you add them together they become 40 RWHP?

I got about 30 RWHP and about 43 RWTQ as measured with a G-Tech ( I know it's not a dyno) with just a Superchips 2280 on 91 Octane ( highest we have in New Brunswick, Canada). I put on a AirForce One CAI and lost HP so I don't know about the CAI. The Volant is a different design but I would be surprised if you will see 23RWHP out of it. I think that their numbers are inflated so don't expect to see those gains with that combo. The Hypertech is supposed to give results at WOT mostly so it might see 28 RWHP. I would like to see the results confirmed by a more independant source before using that information to make a purchasing desision. My guess is the true results will be in the 15 - 20 RWHP category except for a SS or VHO when they will probably be alot less. Those engines are already tuned for 91 octane. Most people say they get nothing from a Hypertech on 87 octane so who knows. The results could really be much lower.

Interesting......

With my '02 Yukon Denali I gained a total of ZERO HP and ZERO TQ with the Hypertech. I also gained ZERO power testing a CAI. I'm really starting to wonder if the 6.0 in the Denali/Escalade is already "tweaked" out compared to the 2500HD motor. I put down 280awhp which seems higher than any 2500 I've seen dynod.

Personally I say its B.S. Im not buying it... I might bite on a 20-25 hp gain with both, but come on..

I wonder how many people will rush out and buy the combo this next week?? Kinda makes me wonder about their other "tests"
