Default truck died, no fuel pressure Help!

all last week my truck would hesitate to start and run weird until it was warm and would spudder over 4000rpms. about 5 days later I was idling and it just killed. I tried to restart it, it would kind of fire but sounded like it was starving for fuel, It sounded like it was getting less and less fuel as I tried to start it until it sounded like it had no gas. The stater just spun the engine but i wouldn't turn over at all.

When i turn the key I don't hear the pump kicking on at all and there is 0psi on the rails off the schrader valve. I do believe I picked up some bad gas right before it started running funny but that was only a 1/4 tank and i filled the rest up with good gas about 50 miles later and during all of this my check engine light never came on.

I think I need a new pump but want to know for sure before I buy it. what do you guys think? thanks

That's all good signs that your pump was on it's way out.. Depending on year, you should change pump & fuel filter.. My 04 has a internal fuel filter which is in the tank..

I wouldnt even bother ordering just the pump. You can get the complete sending unit from Racetronix with a 255 pump for 225 bucks, also comes with a new tank seal. All you have to do is drop it in.

I guess it's out of warranty by mileage? Don't they have a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty?

i don't care about warranties, is this it? this is the only one that specifies 5.3 at all

Sorry for suggesting checking to see if they'd cover it under warranty so you'd only be out $50 instead of 225+

That pump shows only up to 03 year models. In 04 or 05 they switched to an in tank fuel filter so I don't think that one will work unless you add a filter but someone else should chime in to be sure. Unless the "Filter Socks" on it are supposed to do the job?

Hmmm, this is puzzling. Are you just wanting to upgrade the fuel system to support more power or do you really not care? Hopefully its the former.
