Time guesses for LS1 RCSB?

Just curious, with regard to manuals in 4wds...what is the 6-speed that comes behind the 8.1L and Duramax? Will it bolt up? It too comes with a granny 1st that effectively makes it a 5-speed in everyday use.

Everybody puts the 5 speed down and says it won't hold up but there is post after post of the auto's taking a crap and I don't see much evidence of the manual tearing up my guess is the 5 speed is stouter than the auto's. I have had about 6 trucks with the 5 speed and no problems, I currently have a 90 4x4 5.7 with 214K miles on it and just replaced a clutch and that is all I have done to it.

endo - thatd be the zf s6-650
6gear - this is what i'm saying. while it may not be the strongest i think people see the number 285 and immediately label the tranny a piece of crap without really analyzing why.

The reason why you dont hear alot about the 5 speeds taking a crap is cause there arent nearly as many as the 60es. The people that push it to the limits break it. A properly built 60e will handle alot more than a 5speed now I think for your app it should be just fine. You could do all the bolts ons and a cam and probably still be safe IMO.

My 95 GMC has a 5 speed (NV3500) with 150k miles on it. It has a carburated 383 with around 450-500 HP at the flywheel. I have sprayed 150hp N2O as well. I have not broke it yet. I have put vht on the tires but haven't tried slicks. The 5 speed is MUCH stronger than the 4l60's in my opinion.
