Default Stealership?? Not where I live!

I just had the best dealership experience in my life!
Had tailgate cables replced at the beginning of this year, at that time I had just installed my STS kit.
The techs that worked on my truck were very interested in the progress of the kit and what I wanted to end up with.
I have stopped back a couple of times since then just to say hi and take one of the techs for a ride.
I guess it payed off, I have had a weird coolant leak for about two weeks now and wanted to get it pressure tested.
Went in just to see how much it would run me. They were having a pre-winter special at $10.00 to get it tested. I said cool I'll bring it in tommorow. After chatting with the service coordinator for a bit, she recognized me as the guy with the turbo truck.
I said ya I still have the SES light from the last PCM swap, it needs a crank re-learn done. She said when the tech comes in I'll have him do it at NO COST! I said ....ok.
Well the tech comes in, puts my truck on the lift, lets me watch him do his thing. Finds the leak source, resets my SES light by doing the re-learn and asks so what are you going to do about the leak, replace gaskets or the whole pump.
I said prolly the pump and all. He says I'll get it at my cost and you just pay the cashier. COOL!!
I just saved about $50.00 on the pump, got the relearn dome for free and he even lubed my chassis for free too.
I thought I was dreaming or something.
Just had to share my good fortune.

It's nice to have a good dealership. The one where we've done business for prolly 12 yrs recognizes this, and lets me watch the work done on either car, fits me in for service if there isn't room, and cuts me a pretty good deal on stuff. Mind you I don't have friends or relatives that work their either. Now if all dealerships were like this...

Lucky! I haven't had my chassis lubed in so long....

That's extremely surpising to hear from a GM dealership.

I know!!
I walked out of there feeling like I was in a Twilight Zone episode or some ****. That was the best I've ever been treated at the dealer.
Not to say I've had allot of bad experiences, just never had expected much courtesy for free.
I know where I'm taking my ride next time I need some free TLC.

That's great to hear! I have a nice relationship with my local dealer too, even though I do all of my own "cash" work and alot of dealers frown upon doing favors for customers that don't have a consistent customer pay service history with them. It helps that I know one of the writers and I always throw a tip in the night drop envelope, and since I've worked in dealerships all of my life, I understand that sometimes the vehicle may have to sleep there overnight if a part has to be ordered, or if they're a little over booked and fall behind. I never give them a hard time and never rush and always make sure that if I know there's an issue where my vehicle may be laid up for a few days I plan to have an alternate form of transportation. I've always given them a stellar 100% survey and always have a great experience there. When my ABS lt came on and the module shorted keeping the pump running, I was almost a year out of warranty, but my mileage was still very low. My buddy Goodwilled the $800 part and I just had to pay a small percentage (like $200...he called it a deductable, but what I'm used to in those situations is the factory buys the part, the customer buys the labor), which I was more than happy to pay since I was still in the green.

Glad to hear they took care of you

It's cool to go to the dealership and the cashier knows your name, the sales men still don't have a clue where I find these one of a kind toys, and the service writer asks me when I am going back to the track. He knows full well that my toy is raced and he has no obligation to help me. I buy Chevy and take my truck to the GM dealer that is 5 miles from my house... that's the way it should be. The parts man asks me if I have a challenge for him as everytime I come in I try to see if he can find an oddball part, not by VIN, but by description and year... Pure Entertainment as he has only failed me once, and he enjoys the challenge!

Glad to see there are some decent dealers out there!
