I can understand that but he has very little in the way of power mods and out trucks tend to dyno VERY close in HP. I have never seen much more of a variance than 15rwhp in stock trucks (not counting SUVs). That is not enough to change much in the 1/4mile. Weight plays a huge factor as does driving. I realize there is not much to launching a stock truck but there are alot of factors involved in a race.

I stil think he is not too far off what he should be. a good intake, crappy headers, and gears (which are not much different than 3:73s) is about it right?

Not trying to say you are wrong mate, just that I don't see his times being as horrible as some make them out to be. No way in hell should he be close to a 14sec 1/4 in that truck.

I do know what you are saying. Hopefully by this weekend, I will be able to do a personal comparison on the 6.0L to the 4.8L Got a question. Has it been established what year model truck he has? I know my friend trades his trucks in every year, and every year they seem to be faster. This seems to be a big factor, because I was often getting hosed by newer 4.8L with similar mods. I, too, think weight plays an important role. The biggest factor I have had personal experience with is not a regular cab vs extended, but with a 2x4 vs a 4x4. It may have been posted, but what is the weight difference there, out of curiosity?

About 400lbs to add either one.

Do we know where this guys track is? (Altitude?) Or what the track conditions were? Its kinda pointless to compare with out that. Even still with what hes got done hes running about what he should be.

I thought the guys truck was an 03'??

As for weight. I think it is generally accpeted that the Ext.cab is 400-500lbs heavier than a standard cab and that the 4x4 option adds about 300-400lbs??

I see lots of guys with fully loaded stock RCSB 2wd trucks weigh in at 4300lbs right? Then the 4x4 version is about 4600lbs? and an extended cab is about 5000lbs. Mine was 5000-5100lbs stock.

The truck is a 2003 model. We ran them in Montgomery,Al. I Think that it was around 65 to 70 degrees that night.

That's why I say there is more to this than weight, because he ran the same time(15.7) with "some" mods. I would think he would be a few tenths better, given the weather and altitude wasn't that bad, and he had a tune, intake, gears, and a slight increase with the shorties. I guess I'm just too damn optimistic about the way these trucks take to mods and run.

i'm a bit late getting into this post, but for referrence in difference in weather. at the recent M9 event temps were around 50's-60's and if i recall someone said the corrected D/A that night was around -300. sometimes the faster one's just live in better locations.

Not trying to be an ***, but it sounds like you have some serious traction issues and/or you haven't figured out how to best launch the truck. Don't do a silly "John Force" burnout--just clean the tires off a little. Don't hammer the gas outta the hole--take it easy.

I'm able to get 2.4 short times on low profile 20" radials, a 3.42 open rear end, and a cammed LS1. Anyone should be able to beat that! LOL
