It's like oil build up over time.

If you hot tanked the parts it should come off.

Cool,yea I'm gonna take the rest apart tomorrow or Sunday and see what the machine shop says.There's 3 books on amazon about rebuilding gen3/LS motors do you know witch one is the best to focus on the bottom end and reassembly.I have identifix at work but I'm sure there's better info out there then that.

Machine shop said 260 to clean check hone cam bearings and freeze plugs...does that sound about right??

No. The freeze plugs unscrew on these engines.

Cam bearings with replacement is usually around $75.

Depending on how they clean they clean the block will determine the price. If they just wash it. Probably $50.

A standard ball hone depending on the shop is around $65-$80


Doesn't sound like they are Familiar with LS based Engines. Might want to shop around.

Completely missed that with the fire pics.... I paid $475 to have mine bored, cleaned, checked, and cam bearings installed and $425 of that was boring it out
