i thought they both had 317 heads , only differnece is the rods and pistons.

I think the 317's were later replaced with different head casting numbers in 05, I want to say 094 or something like that.

My 05 SS still has 317 heads and so do both our LQ4s

Ive got an LQ9 that ineed to get rid of. Its an '04 of an escalade that had 4xxx miles on. PM me if your interested.

Yeah, what I was thinking is that the half-point higher SCR would give more "snap" in part-throttle and low RPM ( < 2000 ) ranges where boost is minimal or non-existent. Oh well, It means I can go to a smaller pulley, and if I'm still not satisfied, I might use the money I saved for some 4.56 gears.

Dang !!! Wish I would have known that before placing the order w/ SDPC. Oh well, the LQ4 is prob halfway here now, so I'll go ahead and use it.

I think the vlq9 has the bay to bay breathing holes like the ls6 if im not mistaken and yes the lq9 block is still avalible because i just order one today from my local dealer they list for like $920
