Default need help with gauge cluster

My guage cluster is crapping out on me. The electronic odometer will go blank for a while then eventually come back on. If it doesn't come back on i'll love tap the top of my dashboard above my guages and it will come back on. Also when my gas needle gets down to EMPTY and I refill it. The needle will stick at EMPTY and slowly slowly slowly come back to full. Sometimes when I start up the needle will just bounce around and eventually stop at the correct level.

What the hell is the problem. I've tried to clean the connections on the back side and they didn't seem dirty or anything. I'm afraid to take it in because as my luck would have it that the damn thing would work just fine and I will have wasted money and time. Anyone else have this problem?

Does this usually happen after your truck's been running for a while? Fuel guage wire could be laying next to some hot parts and getting cooked. And if the connections aren't loose on the backs side could be the bulbs, unless your cluster has LED's.

You need to replace the Instrument Cluster. Take it to a GM Dealer (like me..lol)..and they have to send it to an AC Delco repair center. It usually ranges between $160 to $250 dollars, all depending what they have to do.

It's pretty common for these clusters to crap out. Buy you a new one and have the correct milage flashed in it. Sounds like a good time for a cluster upgrade IMO

well weren't people having problems installing the escalade clusters into the '99-2000 year models? I thought i heard people say that there was like a parking light or something in that nature always on. Did they fix that? I would love to get a new gauge cluster like the escalades.

From 1999 to 2002 has no problem accepting the Escalade cluster....you just can't use them in a 2003 or up.

I'd say we've done 10 of these cluster swaps and I've never had a Brake Lamp on.
