Is 100k on a 5.3 bad?
How many miles on the motor should i be looking for?

how bad are they bores? have you taken it a part like the heads n stuff?

No its a junk yard motor off of a 2004
If i get it ill do a compression test and all that stuff. hopefully it hasn't had its cherry popped to much

as long as the oil was changed regularly it should just be breaking in

The 5.3 engines can last well over 200,000 miles if they are properly and regularly maintained, and not abused!

I have one that I bought from a guy I work with that has 240k on it. Only reason it was pulled is because it needs a head gasket and it was cheaper for him to buy a junk yard motor with 66k on it than paying somebody to change the head gaskets. I pulled the heads off and the everything I pulled off except the knock sensors was still in real good shape. Oil was changed every 3k.

You can get cheap engines with fewer miles if you look. If that's all you can find it will probably be fine, but don't be afraid to look further from home, you might still save even after a couple hours of driving or having to ship the engine. JMHO.
