from the looks of those pics, the LS7 heads dont have the traditional "cathedral" style intale port shape... I wonder why?? I am assuming thy have found a way to make it better... I am sure they did. Those are the best looking stock head castings I have ever seen. I bet some aftermarket pieces dont even come close to them.

The LS7 head is based upon the C5R head design, and, Yes....they HAVE gone away from the cathedral port design of the Gen III heads and flow has improved dramatically because of this. The cathedral port design was a compromise between flow and port size due to space restrictions on the Gen III head...it was NOT, as some have claimed, the ultimate port shape for flow....it actually flowed LESS than was hoped for originally but design changes improved the port shape until flow came up to the numbers GM was looking for.

I am glad to see they have kept the injector position the same... its very efficient the way it is in both style intake runner.

The list of features is impressive, and so is the airflow, reportedly pegging the manometer at 360 cfm on the intake and 210 cfm on the exhaust, as measured at the LS7's maximum valve lift. Intake airflow is up some 43 percent over the LS6 head, while the exhaust shows a 26 percent gain. In terms of flow capacity, that's serious territory, far beyond any factory Chevy smallblock head of the past, and well past any production big-block heads. As a measure of comparison, a decent high-performance aftermarket head for the standard smallblock Chevy will typically flow around 100 cfm less than the production LS7 intake, and only the most exotic race two-valve heads compare.

Im wondering how much material is left on the stock heads for even more porting. 360/210 cfm at .600 is rediculous especially for a set of as manufactured heads.

The injector angle has actually changed very slightly to compensate for the valve-angle change in the LS7 heads....it's still in the same position relative to the valve though and still points directly at the back of the intake valve as it does in the Gen III

The exhaust valves are also lightweight pieces, featuring hollow sodium-filled stems to reduce weight and aid heat transfer.
just too far over my head. LOL

Bet ya wouldn't be a "FI Dreamin' Mod" with that motor sitting in your garage would ya Yelo?
