Default Know anything about 2.2 L 4cyl?

I've got a 97 S10 w/a 2.2L 4cyl for my daily driver with 218,000 miles..... yes it's a but it gets good mpg!

Yesterday on my way home the truck suddenly lost power and the SES lightthat is on spurraticly went out. I can't give ity anymore than about 1/4 throttle it feels like it's got a 10,000 lb trailer hooked to it. I thought ithe intake was blocked, when i pulled it off it almost sounds like it's poping back through the intake. I thought burnt or stuck valve, but the compression is about 190 psi across all 4 cylinders. Anyone know anythingh about these motors? PLEASE HELP!

I went to some of the s10 specific forums but it seems like everyone on there is like 16, so they weren't much help.... plus I have to waut 48 hrs after i register before i can post.

It might have jumped timing due to a worn t-chain and/or gears. Check your valve timing.

thats right ...damned 16 year olds... seems if you hint to what you think the problem might be... that is what it is nothing else.

I'n kinda thinking timing chain issues myself. Also read somethingh about Cam position sensor or crank position sensor. What happens if they go bad?

I;m with the Wolf here, the Converter will cause it to do the EXACT same thing. I would make sure it's been gutted. And if it's been gutted without proper programming, the your PCM can put you in reduced power mode.

What led up to having the cam jump time? What were you doing before it happened?
