The 2.2's use a nylon chain tensioner, after 218,xxx miles the nylon pices chunked off, my dad and I think a piece of the tensioner happened to catche the sprocket and chain just right to make it jump a little.

Put a new chain and tensioner on it.... runs like a champ now!

Yeah the poly/nylon shoe on the tensioner becomes brittle after years of exposed time to engine oil and high heat. You should be fine now for quite some time more.....good luck friend.

I stipped mine down to the bare block and fully rebuilt it with .030 over pistons and shaved head. I did the entire build myself except for machine work..... If you got any questions about the motors LMK I can probably write a book on it. It's actualy a neat design.
