Talking I just got my new 2006 Vortec Max Crew Cab 2WD!

I am so f'ing happy right now, I can't believe it's mine, all mine.

I ordered it about a month ago, it was built March 27th and shipped the same day. It was delivered last night (April 5th)

Options are:

- Blue Granite Metallic
- 2wd
- Vortec Max Package 6.0L LQ9
- LT2
- Leather
- Sunroof
- Steering wheel controls
- Spare tire lock
- 3.73 Gear

I told my sales guy that when it comes in, don't touch it except to check the fluids and wheels, I wanted it dirty and with all the plastic on it. They did just that and it had only 3 miles on it! The truck is dirty right now but I couldn't find any flaws. It's going to look great all waxed up (Zaino) in about 3-4 weeks. (gotta wait to let the paint cure)

As of right now, I only have 33 miles on it and have been taking it easy for the break in. I can't wait to get 500 miles on it and change the oil, then it'll be ready for a lot of WOT runs. It's a blast to drive, a little big to drive (use to driving a S-10 for 5.5 years) but it will work perfect for our family. It's very quiet inside and very comfortable going down the road.

The mods that I have planned are:

- Remote Start with Alarm
- Spray in bed liner
- Undercover Toneuo cover
- 2" Drop
- Intake tube/box
- Catback
- Small cam (220 224 116lsa)

If anyone has any suggestions for my mods please share them!

Here's a few pics that I took last night, I'll post more after I get it cleaned up this weekend.

WHAT THE? it's got steering wheel controls and NO trans temp gauge, I Guess they saved another buck!!!( Beautiful truck though) You can buy a new SS cluster on ebay for $200 that has it, since your miles are low now would be the time.. You'll like the undercover, I have one and love it. What Gear does it have? Sits big for 2WD

Very nice. I see you opted not to get XM and OnStar. Good calls. I didn't want to pay 1,200 bucks for OnStar and then have to pay a monthly fee for it once the free part runs out. That much money pays for my cell phone service for two years.

XM might be cool, but I'm cheap, so I'm not going to pay a monthly fee to listen to music when I can burn my own CD's with what I want on them.

I did not get the sunroof - I guess I was afraid it might eventually leak. Oh, and it was about 800 bucks (I'm cheap). How do you like the roof? I did get one in my Maxima, but I seldom use it.

As for mods, you are brave. I have a hard time doing anything to such a pretty truck. I would have a hard time swapping the cam. I guess I would be scared I'd mess something up.

I bought a bed full of accessories but have not put many of them on yet. I bought:
GM oversize (dished) floormats for front and rear
GM sill protectors
GM bed rail protectors
GM bed mat
GM bug shield
GM fender flares (the ones on the Z71's)
GM splash shields (specifically for flares)
GM tailgate protector (the one that comes with the drop in liner)
GM stake pocket pop up hooks
GM receiver hitch cover
GM visor CD holder
Du-Ha underseat storage box

Seems like there's more, but that's all I can remember.

I still plan on doing a spray in bedliner in red, and getting the red mirror covers and grille from a SS.

I also might get that GM Fold-a-Cover for the bed.

Mike

Congrats on the new ride looks sweet great choice in color and option package.

Finally I can see what the ride height is on the 2WD version of the VMax. So far all I have been able to find is a 4x4 for the VMax.

I am waiting on my 06 1500 CC VMax 3LT to be built

I put my order in about 5 weeks ago my TPW is 4/10/06 and TDD is 5/8/06 I am hoping it will be arriving much earlier.

Mine is as follows

2006 1500 Crew Cab 2WD/3,73
Sport Red Metallic
Ebony Leather (10-way driver/passenger heated)
3LT Package
Vortec Max Pac
Sunroof
XM/6-disc
Onstar
and the other basic options that come with the 3LT and VMax.

Like yourself I told my dealership not to take the plastic off, so I can clay bar it as well as give her the Zaino treatment.

I also plan to do the auto start, bedliner, step rails, rear cover, ect...

Now I can go get my car hauler to tow my Camaro

BTW great choice with your other ride the SS is nice.

Thanks guys!

Forgot to add that it has a 3.73 gear.

No need to get XM when I already have Sirius (much better content IMHO)

The wife and I love the sunroof, doesn't open "ALL" the way but a very nice touch, allows a lot of light in during the day.

I did notice it does sit kinda high for a 2WD, seems to sit higher than the other 5.3L 2WD crew cab trucks that I drove, sat in. I'll have to go back and check out the others again.

As for mods, I'm not too worried, I put 4 cams in my Camaro SS and I tune LS1 cars on the side. The mods that will get done to it will be somewhat minor and still be VERY streetable (stock like)...

1 more hour at work and it's off to put more miles on it!

I asked my dealer it's the upgraded suspension package you get with the VMax Pack.

So how is the power ??

Not sure yet on the power, really haven't got into it yet, but the very little I did give it some gas, it wanted to move!
