How hard is it to convert a 2005 to drive by cable?
I know there are threads on this as I searched and read through them. really didn't see where any one finished the conversion. Some swapped to mega squirt etc. I really don't care for the DBW and fixing to probably swap my 2005 RCSB Sierra to a 4l80e with a Ls3 and want to go to a larger throttle body. I have seen where people have used the xlink with a larger throttle body and some have had issues with that. I like the DBC way better as that's why Im interested in the swap. Like killing 2 birds with one stone lol I get to get rid of the DBW and can easily go to a larger tb. I have HP tuners.
If the conversion get too complicated and not worth it Like I have to swap out body and engine harness who sell the xlink set up? Which throttle body do I have too buy to work with the xlink and not constantly get trouble codes and issues?

I was seriously trying to go that route and never finished it as I fixed the problem I was having. I reallydon't think it is too hard to do, there is a write up on lt1swap.com and you should flash in an OS for a van as they use the cable. It is beneficial to have a larger throttle body for NA and superchargers that pull air through, but there isnt much benefit for a turbo. I will actually be selling my X link and throttle bodies soon as I will be using the stock one and a spacer to hold my nitrous nozzle.

You need a PCM that has supports a cable driven application like a V6 Or from a Van of similar year.
Use a Van Operating system for the same year as they were drive by wire.
Rewire the existing harness for Throttle Position Sensor and IAC plugs. Change to a cable driven TB.
Just need to mount a Pedal and run the cable to the TB.
Really not that hard at all.

I have been looking into this as well lately. Unfortunately the 102MM options for DBW guys are spotty at best. Frankly with all the money you have into the throttle body, and the X link, this seems like it could be the better answer. I will continue to explore it. Whipple makes a fantastic looking 109mm DBC throttle body.
