Default How does a ford beat a chevy?

Ok, can someone explain this to me? I have heard people say that a Lightning can run high 13s stock. An then you can add just a chip an maybe a diffrent pulley an then it runs high 12s. If this is so true, then why are all the Single cab silverados with a SC an tunning not making it into the 12s. Cause it seems like it takes more stuff to make a chevy run 12s then it does a Ford. At least gudging by the Fastes Truck list an what all you other guys say on here.
Why is that?
I know chevy has awsome engines, so whats the problem, tracshion maybe?
Or if i am wrong someone please help clear me up on this, thanks

Considering most lightning owners post stock dyno numbers of around 360 hp and 450 tq at the rear wheels, I would think they should run faster than they do. We have trucks here running low thirteens with much less hp and tq. Explain that.

13.98@ 98mph (1.98) - the mph shows that the air was horrid. florida heat kills the hp. stock Ls weigh 4700 lbs before you stick in the driver. stock 305/45/18 F1 tires help dead hook. still a leaf spring. still really just a silly f150. 358/430 at the rearwheels here factory stock. stock rearend, tranny, and convertor are great pieces. i dont ever expect to mod them.

if you think they should be faster, well, what should it run? 13.7@100 is more common among the good air drag strips (not in the FL swamp) in the cold winter/fall air.

standard pulley, chip, airfilter (not really needed) guys run 12.9-12.7 very easily on stock tires. get you into the 410+/500+ at the rearwheels.

The fact of the matter is that the Lightnings were built for performance and speed. The silverado is built for regular truck duty. Slap a blower on there and it is still a truck built for truck duty with a blower slapped on. I would think that the stock lightnings cam(s) are more performance oriented as well.

yea, try towing with an L with say, 7-8K lbs. lol. it can do it, but it aint pretty! also here is another thought. the L can run 147 mph top speed. what do the GM trucks run top end?

one more thing. lets not forget teh L is a total combination. the wide wheels, huge tires, hard hitting convertor, big tranny, big convertor, tuning, Bilistien shocks, sway bars, etc are all focused on speed. not general truck duty.
