Went out to the race spot with a few buddies to get some gtech times and do a little racing. First off was my truck. Fastest I pulled was a 15.4? with bad tire spin. The average was a 15.5 on 4 runs. Considering I ran a fastest of 15.4 at the track, I feel the gtech is pretty acurate. Then we ran a 96 single cab silverado with a 5.7 no mods. Pulled a 15.7 first run with a little tire spin. The third run we took out the filter and he hooked it perfect. Got a 15.1
Third and fourth run was in the 15.5-15.6 range. The last truck we metered was a 2003 extended cab sierra bone stock to the paper filter. Fastest was a 15.4. We all lined up three times. Each time we all spin and the 96 jumps out in front of the pack. He ends up beating us through the quarter, but we were all pretty close. The 2003 pulls me so damn hard in the end of the race. The next three races all went as follows: The 96 jumps us out of the whole, probably a half truck or more. I am the first to pass the 96, and at the very end the 2003 pulls me by a damn half foot both times.
We couldn't figure out why the 96 seemed to lose big time mid and high end on the last races. What could be wrong, because it just seemed odd that all of a sudden we could leave him midrange, when he ran a 15.1 at the beginning of the night and killed us the first race. Did he F@#$ something up, or does it just gradually become weaker as it warms up. It is bugging the hell outta us, because I feel the truck is a ringer anyway(I haven't been beaten by any other stock old body style trucks) What gives?
