GM hybrids?
What do you guys know or think about the hybrid Yukons and Sierras? The Yukons are still rated to tow around 6,000 lbs. The strange thing I saw on one web site is that it has 3.08 gears in it!!! Not sure what to thinks of these rigs. Considering upgrading the truck but not sure what I want/need. Both my Jeep and boat weight around 4,000 lbs and the wife does NOT want a TBSS. Thanks for the input guys.

I've been curious myself yes they are hybrids but there is bound to be hidden potential. Or the ability to tune the eco **** out and use it for brutal torque and power on take off.
But what kinda power and torque could one of these do if you could custom tune the hybrid end of it to the same extent we can the rest of powertrain. I mean with some 4:10's you could have something very interesting.
Only one downside if and when it breaks you better be prepared to grab your ankles with your *** in the air and smile cause it's fixin to go in deep.

I would love to own one. I bet they actually drive very well with what is essentially a high-efficiency LS2. Late Intake Valve Closing reduces the dynamic compression and pumping losses, increasing the efficiency at the expense of power. The biggest downfall is the work required when something does break. $$$$$$
On the gearing issue. The two-mode hybrid transmission is roughly based on the 6l80e but its only a 4 speed with the electric motors taking up the extra space. The first gear is 3.7:1 so when paired with a 3.08 rear end, its like having a 4l60e with a 3.73 rear end. Roughly....
Supposedly, tranny fluid changes are not required, ever.

Wow that is some good info. Price wise for what they cost they are about the same as a Denali Yukon. If you snag one with low enough miles you will still have the 100,000 mile power train warranty. If you have a trailer hooked to it does it first excelerate with the electric motors or does it go back to a 6.0L only using the tranny and 3.08's?

Tons of reviews on these things. The electric motors are in the transmission so it always uses the 3.08 rear. Electric motor use is based on load. I don't know how far the electric motors will push it.

So I have a couple of ppl telling me different things. Of course the guy at the GM dealership told me the batteries were covered under the 100,000 mile warranty. A buddy of a buddy that works at a reputible mechanic shop said a class he took on them said for the savings to take effect on one (batteries being about $5,000 and NOT covered under the 100,000) and the bit more they cost per vehicle it would take 97 years to make it worth it!!! WOW And the GM guy said it runs straight off the tranny and 6.0L when towing so have fun with those 3.08's!!! LOL Sounds like a waste of a vehicle to me.

I don't think you understand. What ratio does your truck have, 3.42? 3.23? If so, this thing with its 6.0 will tow better than your truck.
Trucks have an engine and transmission that do the towing.... I don't see what the difference is.
The hybrid option was something like 2500 extra when I was looking at them. They offered to take 1500 off that. Most reviews I actually read online were talking 4-5 years for payback the 2500 premium. Moral of the story, salesmen and mechanics usually don't have an idea what they are talking about.

my buddy has a new hybrid love it but says hes gonna dump it in 3yrs. he says its a torguey SOB
