Was looking at some forged wheels and they seem pretty damn expensive. Is it really worth the extra couple grand that you put into it and would it even help you out performance wize if you went with a 20" forged wheel compared to a non-forged 20" wheel? Anybody here have the forged wheels?

Anyways, im liken the 22" but people say it hurts you performance wise so i wanted to ask the people who have upgraded there wheels from stock to 20 inchers or 22 inchers. When you upgraded, did you notice any kinda performance drop at the track and if so how bad was it really?

 

i know that the stock to 20" performance drop is decent but not too bad mostly because the wheels will be ALOT heavier than stock and cause more rotational weight plus the diameter and therefore circumference of the tire will be a lot larger and will take longer to make one complete rotation so you will have worse acceleration but inturn you would be able to go faster in the end, its the same reason why off-roaders get bigger gears for their 33's or 35's because the diameter of their wheels+tires is significantly larger than stock, if you get some 20's or 22's with a tire on it you would maybe be sitting at about 30 or 31 inches...but if you are set on rims you could also invest about 500 bucks on some cheapo crap rims and put some et streets or drags on those for race day and switch out the rear tires at the track or something to make up for it an be a traction aid

 

Look into Centerline. My 20" Centerlines are 1lb. lighter than my 16" stock steel wheels. Centerlines are 1 piece rotary forged aluminum.

 

Well my iforged wheels are a hell of a lot lighter than than any other wheel I have looked at, does it justify the cost...probly not but they look good as hell to so I went for it.

 

i have forged 22's they weigh in at 29lbs each, the stock ss 20 wheels weighed more than my 22's i lost 6lbs from them, didnt hurt my times at all, espeacially with the 305 tires. and if you shop around you can find them for a great deal , i just saw a set of my wheels on ebay for under 1000. imo go forged or dont go at all.plus forged wheels are stornger than cast. and price usually depends on 1,2, or 3 piece wheels .

BTW, I have Centerline Lexi's which are rotary forged and they are heavy as hell. I picked up 3 tenths when switching to 17" Escalade wheels at the track.

 

any specific place yall know of that sell forged wheels for trucks? I looked at centerline and thats the only place I know of so far...

 

 

Weld's are forged and 1pc CNC'd but not cheap. I used to have $$

 

how does forged rims stand up to the salt/ snow we get on the roads up here in the north... any one have experiance with that?
