Not to mention the bumpers are welded to frame and I am building sliders that will also be welded to the frame. The 9.25 in the H2 is also unique in that it's AWD not 4WD. Easy to rectify but I am over IFS. Tahoe is about to have her 3rd front end in only ~70k that I've put on her and I don't like that I rub 33s. Would like to clear 35s and that will require pushing the axle forward 4" or so.
Didn't know you were going SAS with it. At that point, Yes it would defeat the purpose.

IMO, just go with a turbo and 4l80e. will be a lot faster than the duramax build given the limitations and weight of the engine. cheaper maintenance, more engine room, easier to work on, still has the coolness factor, easy 500hp all day.

Either turbo or D1. I added up the periphs, not even buying a donor van and I got to ~3k. That would buy a pretty nice turbo kit. Van donors can be had pretty cheap for clapped out ones, or 10k+ for nice ones

Was a fun pipe dream, but not gonna happen. Rather put that money into the SAS and putting the D1 on the truck

oh, i hear that! and don't forget the headaches that custom-built junk always creates...
like it literally took 6 months for the vendor & the guy who fabricated/installed/tuned my latest car setup to get the intercooler chiller system working right. SIX FREAKIN' MONTHS! i'd had the car back for 3 months, and what happens? the a/c goes out... of course an hour into taking my wife to dallas for a weekend date (3hr drive each way)... in august. yep, that was fun.

so far, i've troubleshot it down to potentially the custom line leaking freon, a weakening compressor, or combination of the two... ain't had time to verify everything yet - been too busy chasing down why the truck out of nowhere started intermittently/randomly hesitating under acceleration a couple weeks ago. been through a tank of treated gas, 1/2 tank of good 93, pulled & cleaned the injectors, new fuel filter, first two plugs i pulled looked good, wires look fine.

do i sound annoyed?! sorry to vent here. i'll go to bed now. at least my 3 weeks of 10-16hr days is done for the next couple months.
