Default What yrs does 8l90 swap to and 4l80 swap to.

Reason is I'm trying to decide if I keep my truck and upgrade later to an 8l90 after I reach the limit of the 6l80? Or just buy an older 1500 truck with 4l60 and swap to 4l80. Or do both. Thanks!

In a truck I don't see the 8L90e being a better solution, stock for stock is going to be on par with a 6L80e but with just two more gears.

You'd also have to reflash the whole calibration to something that would make your truck work with the 8 speed TCM and wiring.

A built up 6L80e is a better option if you ask me.

If you're looking to go really fast and want a 4L80e, I'd use a different era truck and swap that drivetrain into it. The older platforms make it too easy to program and wire because they came with them from the factory.

Thanks, I just thought that since some 15's came with 8 spds it may be an option for my 14 and it handles the ZR1's power? Then an 08 and a bit later came with 4l60's before the 6l80 so would it be easier for a 4l80 swap?

I would but damn have you seen the price of a built 6l? With converter and tax 6500-8500 not counting installation. I don't think so lol.
