Default did GM ever paint the 99-02 GMC grilles??

just like it says, i got a 02 sierra and id like to find an actually PAINTABLE grille. i know with the chevys you can just buy a tahoe z71 grille. is there any model that they ever painted the grilles on for the sierras or yukons?

o btw my plan is to go ALL painted up front. grille, bumper, top pad, airdam w fog lamps... i think this would look pretty clean, any suggestions welcome. TIA

i thought i saw you post in another thread you were possibly doing a denali clip in a few months....

im pretty sure there is no OEM grille SHELL like that, however i think stylin concepts has one that is paintable.

IMO i think you should, get a billet grille INSERT w/ no emblem

the rest of it painted would look badazz

why isn't your grey grill paintable? i've seen guys try to find those grilles and get rid of the chrome one.

because it is textured and still must be primered and sanded and then you are lucky to get the paint to stick to it

beastmode, check this out, scroll down to the 99-05 gm trucks, small but kinda gives you an idea

You can buy a plastic adhesive that bonds paint to the plastic grille. My brother is painting his stock GMC grille as we speak. I will try to get some pictures.

I just painted my stock grill a couple days ago. I'll post some pics when I get home. I used a rattlecan, and it came out unbelievably well. Dupli-color now has "our" color in a can. I installed a new billet grill into the shell after it was painted and was pretty hard on it. The paint seemed to be on-there pretty good. Hopefully it will hold up. I used a Plastic-Primer from HomeDepot first. Like I said, I'll post the pics when I get home tonight. Honestly tho, I think I like yours just the way it is
