crossed threaded caliper

Default crossed threaded caliper

Any thoughts as to fixing a crossed threaded caliper,
could i retap the thread

You can try to chase the threads, but the structural integrity will be gone. Drill and tap the next size up or replace it.

Cross threads are better than no threads

Are we talking about where the caliper bolts to the knuckle? Or where the caliper slider bolt/pin bolts thru the caliper?

Have you fixed it yet?

I wouldn't cross thread those bolts. It would probably misalign itself by doing so, which would put the moving parts in a bind. Could cause different things like brakes heating up too much, sticking, and uneven wear on the pads.

You can buy new slider bolts if that's all you need. I'd be hesitant to Heli-coil a caliper slider hole. I'd probably replace the caliper if it was mine.

Default I didnt fix it yet

No i have not fixed it yet i might try buying a new bolt first but i know its cross threaded because it was hard as hell torquing it down

If I recall you can get a new one with mounting bracket for like 75 bucks through auto value. (Michigan) it's a exchange program.

I think i only need a caliper bracket thats where the caliper pins screw into which are cross threaded

my abs light is on now in the truck
