Default Clutch fan with no shroud?

Is it OK to run a clutch fan with no shroud? I plan on getting some 292 Flex a Lites soon and I decided to remove my fan shroud today to get an early head start on the e-fan install. I drove around monitoring my engine coolant temp with AutoTap software and the temp never rose above 196* while moving. I idled in a parking lot for about 10 mins. and the temp got to 218* and stopped. This is pretty normal compared to before when I had the fan shroud on. So...is it OK to have no fan shroud? At least it's cleaner under the hood.

As long as you watch your temperatures, you will be fine. If it were summer time and you were using AC or towing, you might need the shroud. The fan shroud just makes the fan move air more efficiently.
