A/C controls not working
#1
A/C controls not working properly. Works on all settings 1-4 but not level 5. This is broken in both my work trucks '02 models, my wifes '06tb and my dads '04 tahoe. is this not a recall?

You most likely need to replace the blower motor resistor in all of them. It is a very common problem, but no, there is no recall. You would be well advised to also check the wiring harness to the resistor as well, as sometimes it will start melting.

I also had a case where it would only blow hot and could not change the speeds or vents. Unhooked the unit from the dash for a bit and then plugged it back in and everything has been fine since.
not saying it will fix every issue but it's damn sure worth a try.

If you have only one or two fan speeds or you have lost all speeds but 5....then you have a bad Blower Motor Resistor. And again, if you replace that....you need to replace the Resistor Connector Harness, because it now has a bigger awg wire. It'll cost you about $130.00 at a GM dealer if you pay retail.

What about when it blows ambient air only, (no heat) from the defrost vents only (even when set to floor or regular vents).
The fan speed **** 1-5 responds properly.
The issue is intermittent and might go away if the truck is turned off and back on.
