Brake Lights?
#1
So my brake light went out today on my left tail light and i decided "hey time to get the led lights?" and then i got a like 2 stage led light that matches the light in my tails and now neither of my lights will light brighter when i hit the brake. I donno if it is because i only have one led but even when i put both regular lights back in, it si\till doesnt light. Any idea's?

putting that light in there might have blown a fuse... when the brakes are applied it triggers a relay to make the brake lights brighter... i'm not sure which fuse it is, but look in the insde AND outside, bc i forgot which one it is exactly. You probably want to look for a fuse that has to do with any lighting OR brakes.
and a little advice... the leds really arent worth the extra money and sometimes dont look any brighter.. but if you really like them go for it, just a suggestion. Try and find some long life 3157's.

Im with SSlow 4.8. But i think its not a fuse but more in the line of the relay since there are lights they just dont get brighter when you hit the breaks. Or it could be both. Never had it that happen to any of my car or trucks.

been there done that, leds blow fuses. the light is set up in 2 sections a brake and tail, the brake has a few more lights than the tail wich make it brighter. I tried them when I had a bulb go out, and they wound up blowing like 3 or 4 fuses. Good luck with it but I wouldnt bother.

ya.. the only reason why i say fuse is bc i had similar experiences... but ya, there is some interior fuses too that trigger when you hit the brakes for the lights to come on in the back... make sure you check the interior fuses too.. theres a box to the left of the dash when u open your driver door AND theres a box down by the parking brake pedal which has a box over it and you have to unscrew something to get the box off.. it doesnt look like a fuse box, but its easy to spot. Theres a relay for the brake lights in there and some fuses
(dont ask how i know about that relay, i had some interior lights and i wired it to what i thought was an ignition wire.. but it was the brake relay.. so the interior lights would come on with the brakes, lol
this is before i knew **** about anything... when i was about 15 or so, lol )
oh and... make sure everything is grounded... im talking about the wires coming off of the bulbs in the back. If you didnt touch any of the wiring, no splicing or anything than i'd say its more than likly a fuse or relay and not a ground.
