brake and abs light on

Default brake and abs light on

this what going on i start the truck up and the abs and brake light comes on and says service brakes. i shut off the truck and start it back up it goes away. this ding crap is starting to get annoying if you know what mean but info how to fix this would be great.

Could be a number of things, really need to know what code(s) it has to begin to diagnose it...could be anything from a bad wheel speed sensor to a bad ABS module

never knew that you get codes when the abs light is on. nope haven't got it diagnose yet

You need a scanner that's capable of retrieving GM ABS codes, a generic OBDII scanner won't do it

i figured it out it from when i did the gear swap i had it retuned when i had my tuner but i sold it so there no tune but thanks for the tips.

Mine ended up being a bad rear abs or speed sensor. When I was rear ended and got the truck fixed, the light started to turn on. After a 2nd accident a few years later the body shop that they had a list of codes. One was for the rear speed sensor. I have yet to replace it. I have no problems braking. It randomly turns on.

Every friend of mine that has a silverado or gms has the same dang lights on abs.

yea. Sometimes it's the tune, the ABS Sensors, The VSS, the calibration setting, or just a stupid plug under the fuse box.

but chevy wont have a recall for such a common brake problem...
