thanks I wish I knew the GM part number and what the problem was before going to the dealer..Next time I will know..

My problem is the same as everyone else and it seemed simple enough. So far, we've replaced the resistor thrice, the harness, which was as loose as a rotten tooth, and the blower motor. We still continue to blow resistors. Today, the problem manifested itself as the blower motor would continue to run with the key off. This was the same problem we had when we replaced the resistor the first time. The rest of the time, the thing just went out and burned the harness.

When we replaced the blower motor, our resistor and blower motor no longer ran hot to the touch. Of course, I can't swear to it because of our ungodly heat that's finally arrived, but it seems hot to the touch again in the resistor and on the blower motor after it's run for a while. The guy at the parts counter said to try the cabin air filter. There isn't one that I can find anywhere on the truck. Bad blower motor again? Cheap resistors that keep blowing? We're at a loss and are ready to shoot the thing between the eyes.

I'd trace the wires to the resistor a little further into the harness, sounds like you have a short somewhere, especially if the motor's running with the key off

*EDIT* Check the wiring to the motor also...

I have seen many burnt connectors on the back of the control head. Might want to take a look at all the wires and pins.
