There is a HUGE black Ford with big 5' smoke stacks in my home town that thinks its the fastest thing. I would love to race him.

Nice kill

I never claimed to be the fastest thing on the road. That is what the diesel guys around here are doing and I came along and shut them up. Just as I would expect someone to do to me if I started shooting off my mouth. The very first night I ever went out after turning 16 and getting my license I mouthed off to a guy in a 69 Camaro that I later found out had been an all out drag car through the '70's but was put back on the street. I was "invincible" in my 64 1/2 Mustang for about 10 seconds (probably about how long it took him to cover the 1/4 compared to my 14 seconds) I learned then and there that someone out there is always gonna be quicker and faster.

As far as my truck is concerned I am not bragging-anybody can throw a boatload of money at something and make it run like I did. But it is impressive. NO weight reduction, BONE stock suspension, idle as smooth as a Cadillac, 100% full towing and hauling capabilty, etc. I drive this thing 100 miles per day and it gets 17 MPG. I have made no sacrifices as far as comfort or drivability. There are only a handful of trucks out there that meet that criteria and still run the number.

Ok, show me one post from above that suggested that he was the fastest street driven truck out there? I see where people talked about that he might be the fastest in his area but not nation wide?

And what does an 11 second R/T in so cal, or michigan have to do with the price of tea in China?

I guess we don't teach trolls to read, huh?

BTW...it's a brave soul that drives a Dodge and posts on a GM only board, I like people with ***** enough to do that, ecpecially ones that can appreciate the other brands and the work that people put into them

I do have to say though that is IS probably easier to make a Dakota with a 5.9 go 12's than it is to make a Silverado with a 5.3 do the same....I would think that there's ALOT of weight difference between the two
I only came over to this board to check out the other side of the 5.3L vs HEMI video thread that was posted on some Dodge sites, and decided to peek around a little further after Slowverado so ignorantly mistook my track number for a dial-in time.

Anybody can make anything fast with time, knowledge, or money, there's no use in trying to assume that only one make/model is the absolute best out there. Especially after the way I've been treated at the dealerships along the way, I'm not even a big fan of Dodge right now.

Either the post was edited, or I mistook what I saw when responding to 'in several states'. Obviously it's getting some panties ruffled even with the disclaimer posted, so why don't we just drop it? I'm not trying to bag on his truck or incite another silly Dodge vs. Chevy debate.

it wasn't edited, and as for the fastest street truck around, i plan on holding that spot in about a year or so , well, maybe not THE fastest but right near the top

BTY, that is a sweet looking truck you have.

I think Damon Blumenstein's 11.3-sec R/T is daily driven (Michigan)
Rob Rohe's 11.9 sec R/T is a daily driver (Michigan)
Dan Bennett's 11.9 sec R/T was a daily driver until he broke some parts, so he bought another R/T which runs 12.1's for his new daily driver. (Washington)

There's easily dozens if not hundreds of guys with R/T's in the low to mid 12's whose trucks are their daily drivers. Next week when my new tranny/torque converter/driveshaft come in I'll be one of them.

This is just the R/T's I know of... From what I've seen around the web the majority of the 10-11 sec Lightnings are street driven, if not still daily drivers.

Because inevitably some internet moron gets butt-hurt and starts inciting a riot because the rocks in their head interpreted it wrong, this isn't a flame at all. Major kudos to anybody who can get a truck into the 10-12 second range, I'm not trying to take away from that at all. I was merely responding to the comment that was suggesting he was the fastest street driven truck out there, nothing more.
Whoa! You are comparing full size trucks to compact size. We drive Silverados/Sierra's not S10/Sonoma's. Those are fast times but the comparison is off base.

Obviously I flew through the original post I was responding to too fast and mis-interpreted "fastest street-driven vehicle in a few states" as "fastest street-driven vehicle anywhere". I only cited Dakota R/T's as examples because I know those owners via the Dakota R/T club and forums and know their times that are posted on Dragtruk are legitimate, nothing more.

Re-iterating AGAIN - I'm not trying to make any comparisons, I'm not bagging on the guy's truck at all, the response wasn't even directed at him.
