Default axle to frame

one of my buddies has an 04 rcsb silverado with a 2/4, and when we measured it, it came to a 3/4.5!! and also when he launches it slams the axle to the frame. it doesnt have the overload leaf and the kit consists of springs up front and shackles and hangers out back. please explain to me why the axle is hitting and why its lower than it should be

Default cnotch

The truck will also need to be c-notched to keep the rear from hitting the frame

Sounds more like a question for the product manufacture.

mines dropped the exact same way... shackles/hangers, removed overload spring and mine sits almost 5" in the back... going through big dips and when I launch it hard (besides the nasty wheel hop) it hits the frame as well... the only way you can do away with it is putting the spring back in/ getting some cal tracs or some other good traction bars/ notching the frame...

-I plan on notching mine reguardless which way I go because I haul some weight from time to time and am tired of riding around bottomed out...

i know taking out the overload would make it squat alot when launching but i have seen some that dont hit and his does thats y i was asking. so the traction bars would stop it or help it alot??? I dont think he wants to c-notch it because when i heard it and told him that he needed a c-notch because of the almost 5" drop he kinda cringed!!

if they dont hit without the overload then they probably arent dropped much in the rear... 2" max. I havent seen a truck dropped that much un-notched that DOESNT hit!!! notching isnt that big of a dea lthough honestly... you can do it with a bolt in notch, sawzall and a drill... then if you want, you can have it welded in to be sure its strong enough... everyone kinda freaks out when you mention cutting the frame to notch it.

traction bars will not help the bottomg out, but they will control some of the axle wrap... the overload springs keep the leafs from wrapping up under load... when you take them off, they tend to give you a lot of wheel hop....

yea i see what your saying!! i am part owner of a body shop and work on cars everyday, so a notch isnt a big deal to me, i dont guess he had ever worked on a vehicle. i new his truck needed a notch when he told me he had a 2/4 with the overload removed but i wanted to see just how bad it was hitting. thanks for the info guys appreciated very much
