Default 99-02 center console to 03-07

Im looking to put the 03-07 Center console in my 99 and have only found one link containing decent information. I have some questions on it, will the console have a gap between the dash and the top of the console? Also do the rear vents work? Would love some extra insight on this topic any pics and random bits of info are extremely helpful

Okay so I did the swap, figured out the rear AC and will be doing that later this month, but now I have a new question. If I swap the 03 dash bezel into my truck and then set up the 03 radio bucket will it cover the gap? This gap seems large but it isn't that bad to be honest

So based on this will the dash bezel cover this up? I'm still loving this console in comparison to the 99-02 this is super nice imo

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you use the bracket that ties the console to the dash... Part Number 15118821

My 03+ console fits perfect against the dash in my 2000 Sierra.

That bracket is from an 03 or the 99? I have the bracket because I had a center console before this but I also have an 03 bracket which the guy I bought this from gave to me part number 15179665 so I am assuming that yours is from the 99, how did you get it so far forward to where you have no gap? Would love to have an intimate conversation about this sometime because if you can help me with this I won't switch to the 03 dash bezel lol

Also I did not bolt the bracket in so I guess that could be my fatal flaw but I am not sure how that would affect how the console ended up? Could definitely be wrong but would love some input, I can pm you my email or phone number if you want to talk more outside of the thread

When I took my console out of a 2004 Tahoe I made sure to get that bracket that ties the console to the dash. My 2000 Sierra had no console. With the bracket It has two vertical slotted bolt holes with 10mm bolts. You simply lift the console until it bottoms against the dash and tighten them down. Without the tie in bracket the console has to stand on the two flimsy metal legs that bolt down under the seat bolts.

Yeah all I have it standing on is the metal legs currently, so you are saying that your console is a bit lifted off the ground? I will have to go back through this when I do my ac mod to get the rear ac working right. Also are you on the silveradosierra forum? That truck looks familiar....

Also something that I find interesting is that the guy that really gave me this idea also has a single cab and his bolted perfectly like yours, strange but I'll go back sometime soon when I do the ac and try and bolt it up to the harness deal, I wonder if the 99 is the same as the 03... I have both but just wondering

The console is not lifted off the carpet anywhere along the front or sides. Those flimsy metal legs can not hold the front of the console to the dash by themselves mainly because of their lack of strength and their mounting positions being so far rearward relative to the console. I can push hard on the front of my console and it stays mated to the dash bezel. Without the bracket pushing down will simply bend the legs and open the gap wider. Yes I'm a member there but I've been inactive a few years.

Photo showing the thin metal legs especially toward the front/dash.

Here is a random photo where I added arrows where that bracket ties into the dash. You can see the adjustable slots that use two 10mm bolts. You simply adjust the gap closed by pulling up until the console meets the dash bezel then tighten the two 10mm bolts.
