Sounds like alot of money being wasted to me, you could build an LS and swap it for less then that entire package and make more power. But should you feel to keep the Gen 1 motor in there, I’m sure it will be fun, no replacement for displacement

As for power I’m going to say around 500ish, that cam is very tame for a motor of that size

What are your goals with this combo? I'm sure it will be very fun.

I have never built a SBC myself, but I would make a few comments... this seems very much like a "truck" build. Compression isnt very high, heads and cam are relatively small. Those cubes will gobble up that cam like its stock. I would go bigger!

I don't have an exact powerlevel I'm shooting for I talked to crane they recommended this cam since it will be low and midrange power as well as be able to pass emissions (no visual here luckily) I've had an ls truck before but this being an old body style so I just want to keep the old sbc design could I go bigger than that on the cam and still pass? I am keeping egr and using dual high flow cats my state is Utah btw

Do they have a sniffer? Tuning around an OBD emissions test is easy as pie. A few more degrees of duration and a 114 LSA would go a long way in making more HP up top.

yup it's a sniffer test 95s to old to be obd2 and I'm using the holley sniper unit the only thing the tbi computer is gonna be used for is the transmission I wonder if I could get away with something along the lines of 220/226 114 lsa as I have alot of cubes would it still be good for lower end? The other one is what crane recommended for my application since it's a 4x4 daily driver etc

If you want to rev a 427 SBC. But maybe you're right, the cam in the first post would be peppy, but it would be a shame if it just went flat at maybe 4500.
