I'm sure that a resistor will be just as good if not better...I just went with an LED since it was a "diode", much like the photodiode that changes resistance with the brightness of light. I just picked an LED that was slightly off. When my lights do accidentally come on by themselves, I can actually reach under the dash and touch the LED for a few seconds and the heat from my hands warms it up enough to turn the lights off lol.

If you do use a diode, it must be wired in correctly, positive to grey, negative to white I believe. If you use a resistor, make sure that it's insulated as it will generate heat...as little as it may be.
Ok..I might probe them and get the results and see what we can do...I'd rather not reach under the dash when I want them off...I can pressure the button 4 times but it gets old.

Hey, YenkoST, just let me know when u figure out what kinda resistor it takes cuz I have the same mindset haha and I dont have an OHM on hand so ur findings would be awesome. Thanks man

50-100 and a dealer can reprogram the BCM

With the correct resistor you will not need to reach under there...it just happened to me the other day actually. I plan to eventually check the resistance myself and get the correct resistor or LED, but since the "accidental auto on" only seems to happen a few times a year, it hasn't bothered me that much.

I haven't had time to mess it with yet...going to probe them on Saturday.
