A NA LS motor usualy hits peak hp with 29-31* timing at WOT.
I was going to mess with dwell as well but the HPT guru's claimed that it wont do anything. Someone did dyno runs to see if there was any gain and there wasnt. I dont know.

That cam is NOT too big. If I could spin all four with my old stock motor and a bunch of other BS in the bed for 10-15 feet in 4hi then you should be able to spin them for a while in 2hi. Main differences being my stall was about a 3800, 237/242 112 cam and going through a 60e but we are also talking about more weight in my case and 4wd vs. 2wd. Also look at what the Wooh Hauler is doing with his cam(233/239) with 10:1CR, in a 2wd with a 60e but he spins through second so obviously there is something else up besides the cam IMO.

That was for gears only and reusing the diffs in the truck.

I don tthink you can compare the wood hauler's low end torque as of a few days and prior to that guys.

Wood hauler. 4.10 28"s radial tire. 4k converter 4l60e. Close enough to same cam specs. More "torque" manifold using the truck manifold.

Thunder 3.73's, 2800 converter, 33" tire, 4x4 EXT cab, lower compression. 4l80e.

Jus trying to show he should get more then a squeek out his tires, I had 32s on my truck and 500#s in the bed and a larger cam, care to explain the results on that one with me being in 4hi and him in 2hi?

i put my cam specs in the post above. 234/232 ~590 lift 114+1. and i lost power everywhere below 4000rpm. a 3800rpm stall would help a ton but i would consider that a prety track friendly stall and not all that great for a truck if your going to use it as a truck, you wouldn't want to tow much with a stall like that.

this wasn't easy to find. these 2 charts are for a 6.0 with the 234/232 590lift 114+1. the lower peek numbers are stock cam. the higher numbers are with the above listed cam. you can see where it was 4600rpm before the bigger cam took over the stock cam but from there it killed it. incredable loss of low end if you ask me. sure a 4000rpm stall or even higher and the truck would have been way faster with the big cam but with a moderate stall the driveability went down considerably.
