i can just tell ya what it shows. the chart starts at 2500rpm. at that point the tq with the big cam is down almost 50ft/lbs. it slowly closes the gap and at 4700rpm it takes over the stock cam. the stock cam drops off prety hard at that point and the big cam keeps pulling for awhile. on the top end the hp diference is dramatic. the stock cam peeks at 5200rpm and 285hp and is prety much done by 5700rpm. the big cam peeks at 6300rpm and 325hp and holds solid to at least 6500rpm. i am sure you could take the big cam to 7000rpm and it would still be pulling prety good.

there is no doubt a 3800rpm stall would fix him up. it all depends what the truck is going to be used for. a 3800rpm stall is prety high for a truck if it is going to be used as a truck. it is prety high for a turbo vehicle too. when the massive tq(boost) hits on that 408 a 3800rpm stall might just blow thru to 6000+rpm and stay there.

That is a HUGE difference

Thanks for the charts Jim. I do plan to use my truck as a truck, it's a DD and a tow vehicle. Stalling up more isn't at option for me right now.

Like I said before, if I have a setup that will perform well with a turbo, I can deal with it being slow off the line for now. I don't see any reason to spend money on making this a good N/A setup when I plan to go turbo in less than a year. I appreciate everyone's help so far, this thread has been very informational.

Unfortunately the track was closed last night because it was raining, so I went out drinking instead didn't get a chance to get any logs. I can't feel a SOTP difference from increasing spark dwell, but I haven't messed with the timing either.

what is the full specs of that cam? from a quick punch in the dcr calculator i'm getting more like 7.5 which is where your bottom end is. if you had a 8.5 dcr you would have monster low end.

I also ran your engine size and cam spec # thru the LS1Tech DCR calculator and I get less than 7.28. I didn't have the .006 numbers so I pluged in 284 & 288. That big of a cam is going to have more than 1 point difference between SCR and DCR. Even a small Comp XE 212-218 .558-.563 on 114+4 comes in at 7.78 on your combo. This could play a big part in the soft bottom end response, especially stalling at 2400. Hope this helps.
