From what I've read the truck coils don't break up at higher RPM's. The car coils seldom have problems at higher RPMs from what I've read and people switch to the truck coils as a fix. But, I haven't heard of people doing this in a while. I think they are all the same now.

the truck coils have larger heat sinks on them. meaning they run cooler. That is all.

i know this is a really old thread but i got a question on this subject. i have a buddy with a 07 2500 with the 6.0 and he needs 2 coils and i have a extra set of coils for my car. i know the coils will work but does there need to be anything done tune wise or anything like that or can i just swap over my brackets and my coils, plug them in an go?

No tuning required, but I was thinking the truck coils and car coils had a different mounting bolt pattern. The bracket is definitely different.

i know the bracket is different but i think where it mounts to the valve covers is the same. so we can swap the coils and not worry about it messing anything up?

The harness and bracket are different, so you might need to swap a whole side.
