Default What's the deal with Ported & Polished Electronic TB?

As the title states, what's the deal with the electronic TB after being ported & polished? I've heard horror stroies about having the TB on 2003 and up ported and polished. But then again I've heard maybe 10 people sing the praises for it.

I ask everyone that has an ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, that has had it ported and polished to chime in on this and give me your feedback.

Thank you

Mine works fine with no issues at all. Throttle response was the only noticeable improvement but every little bit helps. I had mine done by member SS_bnoon_SS because he had experience with the TBW already.

Youll have problems if you over-port it. But as long as you dont youll be fine.

Stay away from the bore where the throttle blade closes and you should be fine. Taking it apart to cut the front half of the throttle blade bar off can be tricky, so PM me if you have any troubles doing it yourself.

This is correct, those who have trouble with them are the ones who get too close to the blade. Mine was a home done job by another member here and I've had no drivability problems, but with much better throttle response.

Thanx guys for chiming in and telling me your experiance with this. From what I've gathered I'll probably just keep the stocker. Sounds like too much trouble for me...lol

It's no trouble at all to install, and if you get one from someone else (rather than doing it yourself) it's not an expensive mod --$65 to $85 bucks. I've got one on my 5.3, and have better throttle response and I'm sure a few more HP!

it all depends on who does the hogging, whether there will be driveability issues. there is a fine line separating good throttle response and performance from high idle and surging issues. do it yourself. pick up a used one and play around with it. the DBW TBs aren't expensive really. $30-50 used just about anywhere.
