It's a good quality synthetic. I don't know if it's any better than M1 or any other synth.
I run M1 and I think I get better mph for it. Certainly it's better for cold starts and abusive behaivior

horsepower tv did a complete fluid change on a camaro and a dodge truck one time....they dyno'd them before and after. The results weren't worth the additional costs.....it was less than 10HP, I think, on both vehicles. They did engine, tranny, transfer case, and rear diff's. If you're just doing the engine, you won't get you any noticeable mpg improvement.

June 2006 Sport Truck (page 90) did a conventional oil dyno pull, then dropped all fluids and replaced with royal purple and then did another dyno pull which netted a 10 HP gain. Dyno pullls were 30 minutes appart.

royal purple is good, but costs too much. AMSOIL is the way to go

heres my thoughts.

15.1 with 35xx miles with K&N filter/flowmaster muffler DINO oil
14.6 with 15,xxx miles with K&N filter/flowmaster muffler with royal purple oil. same basic temp out side and track conditions.

biggest difference i seen was the mileage and the mileage was all with syn oil. no other mods were done. yes i know motor did break in but i used syn the whole time. i noticed the truck was better over all and quieter then other trucks that were similar.

ive used it for 45k miles in the 5.3 i used to have, no it didnt fail i pulled it to be replaced with my LQ9. right at the moment i run dino oil but will go back to royal as soon as i get break in miles on it again

How much is RP a quart? I use M1 and it's about $4 to $6 a qt here.

I don't know if I got any mpg or hp gains from it. It lubes better and keeps the engine cleaner...that's good enough for me.
