i've been a loyal M1 user for years. i run it in everything i own except the nissan. it gets castrol high mileage oil.

i have been wanting to try RP but haven't really felt the need. i guess one day i need to break down and do it.

From what I gather RP and M1 are pretty similar. I use M1 right now, not sure if it is worth the few extra $s.

i noticed this its purple when you put it in and actually takes forever to get black

since our trucks have monitors in them for oil. i have seen anywhere from 4,2xx to 6,xxx in miles before the light came on. it depended on driving. buddys truck with regular dino oil pops up consistant at 3,6xx. so im deff a believer of how it doesnt break down so easily

I used royal purpal in the 5.3 and still use it in the 6.0. The 5.3 had close to 80,000 and still had a pretty good cross hatch. just two cracked pistions.

I run it but mainly for the extended oil changes. A RP rep at an industrial show recommended oil changes at 14k miles with a filter change at 7k and toping it off. I change my DD's at 10k because it is a good round #. I usually change my hot rods sooner simply due to the extra fuel ran trough them and blowby causing the oil to darken sooner. I know some of you may cringe at this but...whatever. I have had no issues doing this and have been for years.
Test have also shown that noise/vibrations have been reduced by 80% in turbochargers just by running Royal purple. It seems to be a common practice for magazine engine builds to add RP to get an extra 5hp to help them get closer to their "goal".
