On a stock compression 5.3? If so a very poor cam choice for that setup simply due to the fact of that cam in a stock 5.3 with the stock CR of what 9.4-9.5:1 would give you a DCR of around 7.3 or so. That motor is going to feel like a real turd until those RPMs really get up there. Honestly I think you'd be very disappointed overall.

What they said above is correct. It's okay to go one step slightly bigger than what you SHOULD put in the engine, but a torquer v2 is too big for a stock 5.3l.. The only way I would put the torquer v2 cam in a 5.3L is if it was a RCSB with better heads and a Tight 4000rpm stall for a strip truck or weekender with a nice set of gears. I would probably do some weight reduction on top of it. The torquer v2 is more for a LS1 in an Fbody camaro.

Are you even planning on an upgraded converter or are you sticking with the stock one?
What kind of truck do you have, reg cab crew cab etc?
Planning on changing gears or keeping the stock gears?
What gears do you currently have?

You need to do a lot of research before buying a huge horse dick cam for a 5.3L, especially if its a stock 5.3.

Answer some of those questions first then we can recommend a cam that would work fine.

I have looked alot man, I have a ecsb, 03 5.3. Tuned, headers, ory, magnaflow, built 4l60e, tb converter (2600), 373s with locker, motor is stock, and I was planning on going with alot bigger convertor. Flaco , and chucks, both recommended this cam, said it would be sluggish, until I got the 3600 then it would come alive, I watched a guy on youtube run a 1270 in the same truck, but he did have a 150 shot of nitrous, which would make a huge diff, all of ur guys opinion r helping alot, plz continue helping, cause im worried to screw up on my DD, but also buying a work truck beg of the year, but still want my chevy ddable

it would come alive like at 4k and pull to like 8k its just too much cam for that heavy truck.. u need 4.56s 3600 stall and its still too big.. but i mean i can run it but with that conveter and those gears by the time that thing starts to make power ur gonna be half way down the track..

well seems like u wana go big but im no expert.. theres a member here running th tr 228 cam on his 5.3 but hes on 4.10s and 3800 converter.. are u planning on keeping 3.73 and 2600 converter if soo i would look at something like the tr220 112lsa.. may b a tr224 but ur truck is heavy and dont have enough gear or converter to take full advantage of the bigger cams.

i run a 224R on 10:5 CR 5.3 with heads & 4400 stall... and i love it...
I've seen many 5.3's with TQ-v2 cam, and great results, just keep in mind- that cam will require heads/stall/gear's...
